On June 21, 2019, the Corps' Memorial meeting and service were held by our memorial stone to the side of our headquarters. This is a time to reflect on our past and the dedication and sacrifice our members have made over the 100 plus years our Corps has been helping the community. A list of names of all our departed members are read by the Secretary, prayers are provided by our Corps chaplains and we salute and lower the US Flag. We then retire for food and our traditional strawberry shortcake dessert we have after every Memorial meeting.
Over this past year, we lost Norman P. Dion, life member of 53 years and former Secretary who past on July 9, 2018. A special prayer was also said at our meeting for Westerly Firefighter Christopher Lombardo, the son of Carl Lombardo, a past President and Treasurer of the Corps, who tragically lost a health battle just this Tuesday. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the departed members and their families.
