KParr - may have been the small man in height in the Corps but always had the biggest heart and love for his community and members he served with. KParr was instrumental in the Corps Dive Team and Rescue Squad always reminiscing of the calls he took and the people he helped. Kparr served in many capacities over his 66 years of service to the Corps, including servicing as President in 1966. KParr will be greatly missed by our organization, our community and his family & friends.
Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Vera Parrilla. A lifelong resident of Westerly, Kenneth made his mark on the community as a realtor, developer and the owner of KParr Real Estate, as well as in many other capacities. He was a founding member of the Westerly Pee Wee Football Complex where he coached for several decades, and Ken was a 3-term Town Councilor, serving as V.P. during one term. He was a devout communicant of St. Clare Church, and a longtime member of the Westerly Ambulance Corps. He had previously taught at Fitch Senior High School where he also coached football. Ken was a life member of the Westerly Yacht Club, and a longtime member of the Westerly Lions Club and The Fraternal Order of Police. Visiting hours will be held from 3pm – 7pm on Monday, June 9th at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Family and friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, June 10th at St. Clare Church, 62 Crandall Ave., Misquamicut.
