9/20/2008: Truck vs. Building in Pawcatuck
On September 20, Westerly Ambulance and Pawcatuck Fire responded to a report of a truck into a building. Upon arrival, the Pawcatuck Fire Department requested the assistance of Westerly Rescue's Heavy Rescue. The departments worked to stabilize the building with Paratech air struts, and were then able to remove the truck from the building. After extrication, the patient was transferred to an awaiting Life Star helicopter. See the pictures here.

On September 9 Rescue Squad members attended extrication training at Corps' Headquarters. See the pictures in the gallery.

On September 13, Westerly Rescue and Pawcatuck Fire responded to a report of a capsized kayak in the Pawcatuck River. An adult and a child were assisted out of the water, and Rescue 4 was launched to retrieve the kayak. See the gallery.
Record number of calls for July!
The Westerly Ambulance Corps was busy during the month of July, responding to 543 calls--a new record for the month!
8/23/2008: Motorcycle vs. Automobile
Westerly Ambulance and Rescue responded with Westerly Fire to the scene of an accident involving a motorcycle and an automobile. LifeStar was called to transport 1 patient. See the gallery for more information and pictures.
