Memorial Day Weekend Busies Corps

Wow, who could complain about the picture perfect Memorial Day weekend? The three day stretch of warm weather brought out hibernating locals and tourists eager get a jump start on the 2019 summer season. The men and women of The Westerly Ambulance Corps answered 70 calls for service between Saturday morning and Monday evening. Most medical calls were routine, but crew’s saw a spike in motor vehicle accidents and alcohol retailed emergencies. The unofficial start of summer made for several busy shifts in the Corps dispatch center. Westerly Dispatch dispatched 123 medical and fire calls during the same time period. Among the routine calls for services, dispatchers were also tasked with boating related emergencies, motor vehicle and motorcycle accidents. The men and women of the Corps wish all that call Westerly home and those that visit a safe and happy summer season.
